Question Should you only have one credit card?

I have never had my own credit card. I only remember my father who had a few credit cards hiding away in his wallet. We didn't use it much, but I do remember him using it a lot for like Christmas and other holidays. But, I'm new to all of this, and I was wondering if I should only get one credit card, or get a couple? If I get a couple, I would use one for food and supplies, and the other for emergency purposes.

I only have one. I use it for emergencies. The most I have had at one time was 5 and it got me into trouble with my finances. I think it is more wise to have one than it is to have none but I would never argue in favor of having more than two.
